In conjunction with the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit and the exhibition Shrinking Cities: Reinventing Urbanism, Julie Kramer and Katie Mason will stage a "Block Party" exhibition and event outside of the Museum aimed at sparking imagination, inspiring discussion and encouraging investment in a youth-driven rejuvenation of Detroit and other Shrinking Cities around the world. The “Block Party” exhibition will be viewable only at the opening reception (Saturday, March 24, 12-4 pm).

You're invited to participate in Home Made: Cultivating Community through Local Food, an evening of cooking performance. Audience members and local food producers will join together and learn to make fresh pasta with porcini mushrooms while Heather narrates a story about the first time she tried the dish. Each food producer present will be honored with a large fantastical cake to serve as an edible monument to his praiseworthy profession. A final cake will be dedicated to the participants of the night's performance, and will be served at the end of the evening, after the pasta, wine, and other fun local treats have disappeared. Please RSVP to Heather (healea@umich.edu) BEFORE APRIL 7. After the performance, the edible monuments will be on display at Everyday Cook until Sunday, May 20, 2007.
