Established on September 22, 2007 and located in the heart of Detroit’s cultural community, Work • Detroit is a unique space for the sharing of creative process and dialogue and an integral component of the University of Michigan School of Art & Design. Work • Detroit's mission is to explore and define lines of creative connection between the University of Michigan, Detroit, and beyond. work • detroit presents the work of student, faculty, alumni, as well as local, national, and internationally prominent thinkers and makers.

Visitors can park in the Orchestra Place parking garage when visiting Work • Detroit functions. The garage may be entered from the service drive between Parsons and Davenport. The Detroit Center validates all event-related parking - just bring your parking stub in with you for stamping. Street parking (on Woodward, Parsons and Davenport) is also available.

Detroit Connections is a program of the University of Michigan Penny W. Stamps School of Art & Design that brings students, staff, faculty, and alumni into Detroit schools and communities to lead art workshops and design collaborative projects with youth. Promoting engaged and active citizenry and requiring out-of-the-box creative thinking, Detroit Connections brings together individuals from a variety of different backgrounds to co-create and share resources. AIRPLANE BANANA-BOAT ROLLER COASTER features a smattering of playful and experimental projects - from imaginative drawing and photo essays to autobiographical audio stories and entrepreneurial ventures - developed with youth and school teachers over the past year.
