Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition

The Ocala Outdoor Sculpture Competition will provide a one year, exhibit of ten outdoor sculptures at Ocala’s downtown, Tuscawilla Park. This exhibit will stimulate residents and guests of all ages through educational sculpture walks, scavenger hunts, docent tours, touch tours, and community celebration. It will demonstrate the power of public art in our city spaces. Visitation to the park will be increased by 40% and stimulate commerce in the surrounding redevelopment districts.

Carpet Design Competition

The carpet design competition is part of The Carpet Design Awards at DOMOTEX Hannover 2014 (11-14 January 2014); which is the world’s leading carpet design competition held at one of the largest and most influential fair for floor coverings.

  Inspiring students and young designers to create modern carpet
  designs using the traditional weaving techniques of Afghanistan

  Creating new designs to promote the unique high-quality of carpets
  produced in Afghanistan at the hands of skilled Afghan women
  artisans

  Demonstrate Afghanistan’s capability as a leading source of carpet
  production

Each finalist will receive a 5’ x 7’ carpet of their design handmade in Afghanistan and the winner of each category will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

Wedding Videographer Needed

Grace King is looking for a videographer for her wedding this fall. 

The wedding is September 28, 2013. We would need someone to videotape the ceremony and reception (from roughly 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm). The ceremony will take place at First Presbyterian Church in Ann Arbor, and the reception will be held at Barton Hills Country Club.

We’re looking for someone with a creative eye that has experience filming and editing. We are looking to have an edited video with music of the day’s events as a final product, but we’re very open to working with an interested student on what they think would be a good way to capture the day.

The Vilcek Prize for Creative Promise (for immigrants to the US)

The Vilcek Prizes for Creative Promise were established in 2009 as a complement to the Vilcek Prizes, to encourage and support young immigrants who have already demonstrated exceptional achievements and who often face significant challenges early in their careers. As with the Vilcek Prizes, the Creative Promise Prizes are awarded annually in biomedical science and in a changing category of the arts, this year recognizing accomplishments in the field of design.

The online applications are currently open for the 2014 Creative Promise Prizes in Biomedical Science and Design. Three $35,000 cash prizes will be awarded in each category. Apply or recommend your friends and colleagues!

Call for Sculpture

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2nd Annual Dexter Sculpture Display. Five locations in the
community have been selected as locations for the displays. Sculpture selections will be made by Village
Council upon a recommendation by a Selection Committee of local residents. The art will be on display through
several large community events including the Summer Music Series, Paint Dexter Plein Air Festival, Dexter
Daze, and Apple Daze. Submissions must be received or postmarked by July 12, 2013.

Space Planner for Cabela’s

Cabela’s Retail, Inc is hiring a Retail Space Planner/Signage Specialist to be based out of a retail store in the eastern region.  This position is a critical link to our customers.

This position’s duties include:

• Assures all planograms produced are accurate based on the information supplied and follows the merchandising guideline set by Management and the Regional Merchandise Managers.
• Assures the integrity of in-store signage for all retail departments, all ads and all special events by following the retail signage specifications and guidelines manual. This will include proof reading of signage and conducting quality assurance to ensure accurate signage.
• Assist in conducting, writing, and updating training and procedures. This will include traveling to train new Retail Space Planners and supporting existing Retail Space Planners.
• Communicates the map, planogram and signage related information to store management, store team, and Regional Merchandise Managers. Maintains accurate product and fixture dimensions. Coordinates planning of seasonal rolls. Creates and revises planograms as needed.

Industrial Design Fellowship in Cambodia

iDE Cambodia is seeking an Industrial Design Fellow for 14 months in Phnom Pehn.

You will be the Industrial / Product Design Fellow based in Phnom Penh for a 14 month Fellowship starting in late summer / fall 2013. You will play a leadership role in the design research and product design aspects of projects, co-designing life enhancing solutions for the rural poor. You will work with iLab’s team to conduct user research, identify human insights, set design directions, develop low and high resolution prototypes, and glean user input to optimize designs.

This is an opportunity to work on realworld problems alongside a closeknit, diverse, and top calibre team. You’ll wear many hats. You will have a rich experience that will touch the lives of those who most need lifechanging opportunities. And at the end of the Fellowship, if we see a mutual fit, you’ll be offered an opportunity to stay on as fulltime Leader at the iLab.

Styleshack is seeking a qualified individual to handle graphic design related responsibilities. Tasks include but are not limited to:

Front-end design for website
Promotional material, marketing templates ( Design and build graphics for contest pages and promotional materials for the marketing team )

Qualifications:

1-2 years experience designing for a website
Must be proficient in the Adobe Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign
Excellent sense of typography
Experience working with websites (we use Wordpress as our back end)
Photography skills preferred

Social Justice Art Fair Call for Art

The third annual Social Justice Art Fair will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at the University of Michigan’s School of Social Work. The event aims to explore how art can be used as a therapeutic tool and mechanism to promote social justice and/or change.

Although the Social Justice Art Fair is not affiliated with the Ann Arbor Art Fairs, we are conveniently located adjacent to the South University Art Fair, making our location ideal to drop in as you explore the city’s many wonderful activities.

Are you interested in becoming involved? We are seeking individuals to submit art and volunteers to help before and during the event.

HWD Call for Sculpture

HWD (Height x Width x Depth) is a juried exhibition celebration three-dimensional artwork by artist from Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania or West Virginia.  Established in 2007, HWD is the region’s only gallery exhibition focused exclusively on sculpture.

ELIGIBILITY
    - All types of three-dimensional mediums are accepted including wood, fiber, stone, metal, glass and mixed media
    - Artwork must be able to fit through the 79 x 34 inch gallery entryway
    - Artwork must be created within the last four years
