The M-ENGIN program at UM is looking for a graphic designer to quickly create an initial set of PNG images to be used as digital badges. The initial set will encompass 14 categories with at least 4 levels for each category. Examples of digital badges can be found at credy.com
The initial set of badges needs to be completed by January 1, 2014.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience and is negotiable.

February 2014 the University Art Gallery and the SVSU Department of Art is hosting a juried digital fine arts competition “Cyberspace II Competition,” which is open to artists within the State of Michigan.
This exhibition is open to any Michigan artist using a digital imaging device such as a digital camera or scanner and/or digital imaging program in the creation of their work. Artwork should be created with a fine art rather than a commercial emphasis and must be professionally framed and ready to hang. No works requiring a computer or other electronic device for display will not be accepted unless artist provides own equipment. Entries cannot be larger than 6 ft. in any dimension. The gallery does not take a commission for sold pieces. Cash prizes will be awarded.

In honor of Naomi Rabb Winston, NSAL established an annual scholarship fund for young visual artists between the ages of 16 and 22. Applicants must demonstrate exceptional talent and promise of future success. The scholarship funds are only for private study, for special training or for personal advancement in the applicant’s art medium. They can be used for workshops, museum programs, summer programs, etc. The funds are not for college tuition, housing or travel. The maximum amount awarded to an applicant is $5,000. In most years as many as eight to ten scholarships are awarded in varying amounts.

Art Exhibitions Director will be responsible for the oversight and management of all aspects of two galleries: the Art Department Gallery featuring works by faculty, students and alumni, among others; and the Elaine L. Jacob Gallery, which focuses on exhibitions with national and international significance. Responsibilities include developing and scheduling shows in cooperation with a faculty exhibitions committee; overseeing and installing a total of ten to fourteen exhibitions per year; creating exhibition marketing identities (show cards, posters, public relations, etc.), including the use of social media and web-based media; training and supervising a part-time preparator as well as student assistants; shipping and receiving works of art, including crating; managing the gallery budget; assisting with departmental development projects, including grant writing; coordinating public programming, including visiting artists, symposia, workshops, and conferences; teaching at least one course per year (typically on a museum-practices topic); building relationships with collectors, galleries and museums; and other duties as assigned.

Announcing a call for photographic art to be displayed in an exhibit titled “India As I See It” in the gallery spaces of Matthaei Botanical Gardens winter 2014 during the LSA theme semester “India in the World.” Photographs must be of India’s people, places, sights, and celebrations.

Criteria: Photographs must be framed in black frames. Works will be displayed on gallery walls; wires for hanging must be provided on the back of each work.

V2V, a locally owned clothing boutique, is looking for a part-time Graphic Designer (with potential to grow into full-time position). V2V has been an Ann Arbor staple at it’s Kerrytown location for over 20 years with additional stores in Petoskey, MI, Charleston, SC and a new location on the East side of Ann Arbor.
The designer will have flexible work hours. The store is also looking for a part-time Marketing Manager and Merchandiser and would consider hiring full-time if a candidate possessed all these skill sets.
Self-directed and able to work independently on a variety of projects

BFA in Graphic Design or related field (or working towards degree)
Strong design skill set with knowledge of typography and layout

The Science Learning Center (SLC) is excited to announce a 2014 Science As Art Contest for currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students.
We are seeking submissions of artwork that express scientific principles, concepts, ideas, processes, and/or structures. The artwork may be visual, literary, musical, video or performance-based. Depending upon the number and types of submissions received, cash prizes will be awarded based on categories which may include: Best Overall; By Discipline; By Format; Quality of Artistic Expression; Individual and Team; or Student Status such as 1st year, sophomore, etc.
The submission deadline is Friday, January 10th, 2014.

Entries will be judged by a faculty and staff team with diverse backgrounds in science, literature, education, and art.

The University of Michigan College of Pharmacy is dedicated to supporting Relay for Life. Our goal is to be among the top three teams each year in fundraising for Relay for Life, and our goal this year is to raise $15,000. To help us reach this goal, we will be hosting a 3rd Annual Charity Art Auction on March 21st, with hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, followed by a silent and live auction to display the artwork donated by our talented pharmacy students, faculty and staff, as well as our patrons.
We invite you to donate your artwork for our auction! Artwork is not limited and may include paintings, photography, ceramics, jewelry, and other handicrafts. For every piece of work donated, donors will receive $5 off of the event entry fee ($15).
