Internships with Anthem Press

Anthem Press

Our London office offers full-time and part-time internships of varying lengths and of different type throughout the year. Since we are a small and informal international publishing house, you will be exposed to different stages of the publishing process. You will have the opportunity to do real work and get real credit for it.

We are only interested in detail-oriented applicants who can demonstrate a serious interest in publishing. Office hours at 9.15am-5.15pm Monday to Friday.

We are also willing to entertain applications for ‘remote’ internships.

Type of Internships
Editorial – work may include editorial or marketing research, some work on book proposals and manuscripts, web content editing and general administrative support.
Sales / Marketing – such placements tend to be longer than the average internship.
Design – work may include book cover design and designing print and online marketing material.
Publicity / Social Media – proficiency in the use of technology desirable.

Length of Internship: Variable

Location: London, United Kingdom (or ‘remote’)

Application Due Date: On-going

Remuneration: Unpaid, although travel costs in London are covered.

Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Education, the Art Instructor is responsible for developing, planning, and implementing classes and workshops for children.

The Children Art Instructor duties:
Develop comprehensive curriculum, including lesson plans and project plans.
Contribute to monthly newsletter articles regarding class progress and/or news.
Maintain program records to include attendance and supplies.
Coordinate supplies and equipment for art education.
Responsible for keeping work areas neat; attend to proper storage of art supplies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Carpet design competition

The carpet design competition is open to students and young designers who have an interest in product design and textiles.

A panel of judges featuring individuals with extensive carpet experience will undertake the initial round of judging. A second panel of esteemed judges will select the top three designs in each category, which will represent the finalists in each category.

Each finalist will receive a 5’ x 7’ carpet of their design handmade in Afghanistan and the winner of each category will receive a $1,000 cash prize.

The winning designs will be featured in HALI (the leading international quarterly magazine for the rug and textile market) and be displayed at DOMOTEX 2014, as part of The Carpet Design Awards.

Carpet importers will attend DOMOTEX and view the winning designs; increasing the potential for commercial production.

The winners of each category will have the opportunity to travel to Hannover to receive their awards during DOMOTEX 2014. Travel expenses will be provided.

Tamarack Camps is looking for a ceramicist. 

You will get to work in our new arts facility and help to create a memorable summer for our campers of all ages. Your job would entail furthering the mission of the camp through the development and delivery of arts and crafts activities that are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. You will also assist in the management of the arts and crafts building and related equipment and supplies.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to work on your own creative projects.

Internship with Roadmonkey

Roadmonkey, the world’s first adventure philanthropy company, is looking for a tech-savvy intern to manage and expand the website, roadmonkey.net, as well as create and edit short videos for the site. We are based in Santa Monica, CA. We will consider qualified people who can work remotely.

Roadmonkey combines kickass adventures in nature with hands-on, short-term volunteer projects to create what we call adventure-philanthropy expeditions worldwide. The internship requires the ability to work with Dreamweaver, Photoshop and basic HTML. You would be working with the company founder on specific projects.

We are a small, ambitious startup. UM School of Dentistry - Graphic Designer Assistant

Educational Value:

This job provides an extremely wide range of hands-on experience for the digital graphic designer / illustrator and web designer. This position will also draw on one’s communication and customer service skills when interacting with clients and team members.

Job Description:

The person in this position is shared between a multimedia designer and our web applications team. The graphic work will consist of assisting in the preparation of drawings and/or designs using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign.  Will also assist in preparing files and printing to a large format printer.  The web design work will consist of updating and creating pages within the School of Dentistry site

.  Some video editing using Final Cut Pro X and other video design work using Motion or After Effects will be added later.  Hours/days are fairly flexible within the 8-5 workday/week.  No evenings or weekends.  10-15hrs /wk.

Desired Qualifications:

Creativity, excellent communication & customer service skills, ability to work independently, solid working knowledge of Mac OSX, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign. Basic knowledge of web design. Video post-production experience (Final Cut Pro X/ Motion) is a plus. Portfolio review during the interview.

Pay is $9.00-$12.00/hr
        The position is for 11 months beginning in June/July 2013 and running through Aprl 2014

AMERICAN BATIK DESIGN COMPETITION

To celebrate the new US – Indonesia Partnership, Indonesia’s Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Dino Patti Djalal, is launching the second round of American Batik Design Competition, following the success of American Batik Design Competition in 2011. This project is a challenge to US-based designers to craft batik designs with a distinct American style – hence the theme “The spirit of America in the heritage of batik”.

A joint panel of American and Indonesian batik/textile experts will select the three best batik designs. Three winning designers will travel to cities in Indonesia for Two Week Batik Tour and receive prize money each of $7000, exhibitions in Indonesia and the U.S.
